KPV

Also known as Lysine-Proline-Valine, Lys-Pro-Val, KPV tripeptide, alpha-MSH(11-13)

A calming tripeptide for tissue and immune balance

KPV is a naturally derived tripeptide studied for its role in calming inflammatory signaling and supporting healthy tissue and gut recovery. It is explored as a targeted option within a physician-guided recovery protocol.

How It Works

KPV is a short peptide built from three amino acids that mirrors the active tail of a natural anti-inflammatory hormone. Once inside cells, it is thought to quiet the molecular switches that drive inflammation, which may help tissue settle and recover. Because it is small and stable, it is being explored across both topical and systemic recovery applications under medical guidance.

The Science & Mechanism

KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide fragment (Lysine-Proline-Valine) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), and it appears to retain much of that parent hormone's anti-inflammatory activity in a smaller, more stable form. Research suggests KPV acts intracellularly to downregulate pro-inflammatory signaling cascades, notably by interfering with NF-kB and MAPK pathway activation and reducing downstream production of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, and IL-6. In epithelial and immune cells it is thought to be taken up in part via the peptide transporter PepT1, which may concentrate its activity in the gut lining. Unlike full-length alpha-MSH, KPV appears to exert these effects with minimal melanocortin-receptor-mediated pigmentation activity, which is one reason it is studied as a focused anti-inflammatory peptide.

Potential Benefits

  • May help support a balanced inflammatory response
  • May support recovery of skin and soft tissue
  • May help support gut lining and digestive comfort
  • Is being studied for calming overactive immune signaling
  • May support a more comfortable post-injury recovery experience
  • May complement broader tissue-repair protocols

Who It May Be Best Suited For

  • Individuals focused on recovery and tissue repair
  • Those interested in supporting a balanced inflammatory response
  • People exploring gut and digestive comfort support
  • Clients seeking a complement to repair-focused protocols

Important Considerations

KPV is intended for use only under the supervision of a qualified physician, and the right approach is individualized to your health history and goals. It is not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment of any medical condition, and outcomes vary from person to person.
